Bible Study

 Bible Studies meet on:

Tuesday mornings from 9:30 am until 11:30 am       or

Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm

The Following Studies will be offered this Fall:

Tuesday mornings:

Beginning October 3rd on Tuesdays following Daily Mass at 9:30am, join us for a study entitled “The New Testament: A Bible Study Course,” presented by Fr. Nicholas King, S.J. This series will present fresh insights into the New Testament, hopefully answering your most important questions about its 27 books.  These lectures will give you access to modern scholarship on the New Testament as Fr. King’s original translations breathe new life into the words you have so often heard and studied, accurately conveying the mood of the original documents.  This comprehensive series will extend into a winter session after the first of the year.  Fall session will run from Sept. 26-Nov. 21. If you have never attended our Bible Study, we will certainly invite you to join us.  Each lecture is independent so join us when you can!  There is no cost or materials to purchase.  If you have questions, please call Pam at 656-9495.

Wednesday evenings:

One of the two adult education opportunities this Fall on Wednesday nights will be a study entitled “The Prophets: Messengers of God’s Mercy,” presented by Thomas Smith & Sarah Chistmyer. If we consider that God is the Divine Bridegroom and the Church is his Bride, then the prophets can be seen as “spiritual marriage counselors.” They afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted, calling us to return to our covenant relationship with God. They urge us to repentance, warn us of the dangers of sin, and announce the blessings of faithfulness. Their prophetic words speak to us even today, as they draw us closer to our heavenly Bridegroom, and show us how to share him with others. Join us this Fall at 7pm on Wednesday evenings in the St. Benedict Room of the Parish Community Center for this study.

The other of the two adult education opportunities this Fall on Wednesday nights will be a study on “The Bible and the Virgin Mary” from the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. This amazing, spiritual opportunity will begin on Wednesday, September 20th @ 7pm and will run on Wednesday nights for 11 sessions (exclusive of the Oct. 25 & Nov. 29 Parish Family Nights). Participant Workbooks are $20 and 20 are available; no one will be denied due to inability to cover the cost. Call Nick in the parish office to join the study and reserve a book! Don’t miss out on a chance to learn more about the Virgin Mary, especially in this year when we celebrate 100 years since the apparitions at Fatima.
